About Dr. Kip - My Chiropractic Story
From 1980 to 1986 I played full contact football both in Junior High and High School. My team mates and I endured form tackling drills every practice. One day when I was a freshman I told my mom my lower back hurt. She told me to go see her chiropractor. I told her the typical male response - “I don’t need a doctor”. A few days later I asked if she could drive me to her chiropractor. I hadn’t missed a game or a practice, but the ache in my back was getting worse. The doctor helped me, and I have been a believer in chiropractic ever since.
Although my back was rarely a problem again, six years of football and other sports had taken its toll on my neck by the time I was a young adult. I visited another chiropractor. The x-ray of my neck told the tale - I had cervical degeneration. This explained why my neck was often sore and at times became painful. The doctor put me on a treatment plan to slow the degenerative process and restore the proper curve in my neck.
Years later, after a career as a coach and teacher, I decided to help kids in a different way, I returned to school to become a doctor of chiropractic. While at Parker College of Chiropractic, I learned the full scope of chiropractic care. Chiropractors help with more than just muscular problems. The nervous system is the command center for our bodies. If there is interference to the nervous system, then something else is also affected in the body. It may be a muscle, or it may be an organ, the skin, the blood, the immune system, or any thing else in the body! Chiropractors remove nerve interference.
Now, my goal is to raise a wellness generation by helping as many people as I can, especially children. My hope is that people view chiropractic as their first stop for any health care need. Drugs and surgery are options, but should not be at the top of one’s list. People should give their own body a chance to heal itself, and chiropractors help their patients do this.
Through the years I have leaned heavily on my beautiful wife, Laina, who has always supported me. Her love for me was essential years ago when I decided to change my career. She too believes in the chiropractic lifestyle, and together we are raising our three children to view the body as a whole, and let it heal itself. My kids have heard me say it many times, “The power that made the body heals the body.”
Psalms 139: 14 declares, “I will praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” In a sense, this verse refers to the incredible nature of our physical bodies. The human body is the most complex and unique organism in the world, and every aspect of it, down to the tiniest microscopic cell reveals that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by our supreme creator. Our bodies deserve a chance to heal themselves. I truly believe that with God all things are possible.
